Ayres, Robert

<div id="leftcolumn">Robert (Bob) Ayres was a leader in the Plastics Pipe Institute Inc.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Ayres worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. in its plastics technical center, where he concentrated mainly on pipe projects. He was instrumental in significant developments for gas-pipe resins in the 1970s and also developed many other resins over the years used throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia.</div> <div id="leftcolumn"> <p>Ayres was named a lifetime member of PPI, an honor bestowed on only seven people during its 60-year history.&nbsp; He&nbsp; retired from Phillips in 1988 but continued to work on PPI&rsquo;s Hydrostatic Stress Board.</p> <p>See:</p> <p><a href="http://plasticsnews.com/headlines2.html?id=11121201401&amp;q=died">"PPI's Ayres dies at 78," <em>Plastics News Report</em> (Dec. 12, 2011)</a></p> </div>
